Temple Kol Ami is an egalitarian, engaged and inventive Reform Jewish congregation. Membership means truly belonging, and we value every voice. Members can personally know and be known to our Rabbi, and actively share their relationship to Judaism.
The Executive Director is responsible for the administrative functioning of the Temple. They work closely with the Clergy, Education Director, Executive Committee, and office staff. They must maintain a caring and supportive relationship with congregants, employees, Board members and volunteers. Responsibilities include:
Office Management
• Manages the day-to-day operations
• Operates Temple within the approved budget
• Develops consistent policies and procedures
• Hires, supervises, trains, evaluates and motivates staff
• Manages all aspects of HR requirements of personnel files and ensures appropriate payroll and benefit compliance
• Supervises, administers and maintains all office systems, including membership management, and office & IT equipment
Financial
• Prepares a detailed annual budget
• Prepares various reports as necessary for Board members, committees, staff and outside organizations
• Creates billing charges for members, negotiates payment plans and oversees collection efforts
• Oversees grant opportunities and compliance
• Prepares, negotiates and ensures fulfillment of all contracts
Facilities
• Contracts, authorizes and oversees necessary repairs, maintenance and inspections
• Maintains security standards as approved by the Board
• Oversees facility set-up and interacts with caterer for Temple functions
Membership
• Provides initial contact with prospective members
• Maintains accurate membership data and submits information to Board and committees as necessary
Communication
• Effectively and promptly communicates with members regarding a wide range of needs
• Creates, administers and sends weekly email newsletter and other Temple communication as needed
• Updates and maintains the website, social media and calendar
• Creates program flyers as needed
• Coordinates press release information
Miscellaneous
• Attends Executive and General Board meetings
• Manages all aspects of High Holy Day logistics
• Answers phones, runs reports, processes tributes, leads staff meetings and much more
