ABOUT THE INITIATIVE
The Jews of Color Initiative is a U.S.-based, and centered effort focused on building and advancing the professional, organizational and communal field for Jews of Color.

The Initiative focuses on grantmaking, research and field building, and community education. It hosts the nation’s first-ever philanthropic and capacity-building fund expressly dedicated to responding to racial injustice through helping further establish, fortify and build out the field of support for Jews of Color.

The Jews of Color Initiative is a fiscally sponsored project of the Tides Center, a public charity located in San Francisco, CA. The Center offers unique opportunities for emerging and existing charitable activities, by providing a solid infrastructure for groups working to promote progressive social change on a local, national, and international level.

ABOUT THE POSITION
To help support our work and mission, the Jews of Color Initiative (JoCI) is seeking for our New York office a strategic, energetic, and experienced full-time Program Director with outstanding program management, community organizing, and leadership skills. The New York Program Director works with senior leadership to create and implement communication strategies that effectively promote the mission, strategic objectives, and programs of the JoCI. The position is exempt, full-time, 40 hours per week, and reports to the Director of Programs and Operations.
JoCI, formally launched in 2018, is doing groundbreaking work at the intersection of Jews of Color and the Jewish Community. We need a Program Director with a positive, get-things-done attitude, dedication to the work that facilitates success, and an authentic passion for the Initiative’s work and mission. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Strategize, implement, and maintain New York program initiatives that adhere to organizational objectives
- Develop program assessment protocols for evaluation and improvement
- Maintain organizational standards of satisfaction, quality, and performance
- Work closely with senior leadership to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for New York initiatives
- Create and maintain New York programming schedule
- Prepare timely progress and funders’ reports
- Manage the outreach, selection, and onboarding process for New York Fellowship and Incubator
- All tech support for virtual meetings
- Identifying/sourcing possible advisors, experts, mentors for both programs
- Develop, articulate and hold JoCI’s mission and work on the East Coast
- Working with the Program Officer to coordinate the distribution of funding

Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to process improvement for organizational alignment
- Bring ideas and insights to make JoCI’s work even more effective
- Advance the profile and reputation of JoCI in NY and the greater East Coast
- Hold and treat the JoCI’s work with intentionality, care, and absolute discretion
- Supports all aspects of planning and implementing a new, national Initiative, as needed
- Collaborates effectively with other team members as appropriate
- Completes any special projects or tasks as assigned by senior leadership

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES

- 5+ years of professional experience as a program manager or project manager
- Demonstrated dedication to JoCI’s mission and values
- Verifiable track record of achieving successful outcomes within complex environments
- Highly developed strategic thinking and execution skills
- Exceptional writing, editing, and text-based skills. Superior attention to detail
- Organized and self-directed
- Ability to set priorities, work independently, multi-task with regular interruptions, problem-solve, and coordinate projects successfully
- Refined ability to anticipate, intuit, prioritize, and take the initiative
- Fluency-level skills and adaptive approach to technology, including Outlook, Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite, and Salesforce
- Positive past experiences that demonstrate the ability to thrive and navigate complex, multiracial environments
- Experience with and passion for understanding U.S. Jewish communities, politics, and policies
- Knowledge of and passion for U.S. history and contemporary social/political affairs
- Ability to work effectively and diplomatically with all members of the Jews of Color Initiative community and network, including community leaders, clergy, funders, organizational leaders, and colleagues
- Comfortable interacting with funders and organizational leaders at all levels
- Ability to hold diverse/complex/sometimes conflicting views about Jewish communal pain points is essential (ex. Israel and Palestine, Is anti-Zionism anti-Semitism? The Women’s March, etc.)
- Ability to work in both in-person and virtual environments
- Ability to work across time zones. While our work generally occurs in Pacific Standard Time, this position will interface with colleagues across the U.S., in Israel, and other countries
- Experienced intersectional community leader, facilitator, and organizer
- Curriculum design for Fellowship and Incubator
- Consultant and vendor management
- Data analysis, budgeting, and detailed financial reporting

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
$80,000 - $90,000 + medical, dental, vision, secular + jewish holidays, cell phone reimbursement, close early for Shabbat.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
The Program Director will work inside an office environment, as well as indoor and outdoor venues on occasion. There will be infrequent evening/weekend hours.
