Religious School Administrative Assistant

We are a thriving Southern Reform Jewish congregation in suburban Atlanta. Temple Kol Emeth was founded in 1982. We have been affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism since 1987. We are in search of a highly organized, creative problem solver, and welcoming individual to join our educational team at Temple Kol Emeth to support the administrative duties of our school to help us achieve our overall mission of inspiring students and families.

The position would start on July 1 and is part-time (20 hours, non-exempt ) that provides administrative support to the operations of our religious school and reports to the Director of Education and Youth Engagement. This position is also a partner with all members of the TKE clergy, staff, and lay leadership.

-Must be able to work on-site during our school hours during the school year (Sundays: 9 am-2 pm, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons) and other workdays as set with the Director of Education
-Must be willing to work some evenings and Jewish holidays/events

Position Qualifications
• A minimum of five years administrative experience, preferable in a school setting or non-profit
• Jewish knowledge with a passion for Jewish education and learning
• Prior experience creating and managing databases, calendars, and event management
• Strong written and verbal skills, effective at communicating with a variety of stakeholders including students, parents, volunteers, and staff
• Exceptional computer skills- including Microsoft Office suite, database management, google docs, technology, social media, and websites

Position Responsibilities and Duties:
School Administration:

• Calendaring:

-assist with creation and maintenance of school calendar that correlates with CCSD calendar
-assist with coordinating RS Calendar with main Temple calendar
-assist with room bookings and assignments
• Manage religious school registration in coordination with Bookkeeping Associate: school database maintenance, development of reports, gathering of applications, discussion of fees with applicants, running of reports concerning class schedules
• Maintain attendance records, confidential health and safety records, and emergency contact information
• Maintenance of school supplies, textbooks, including B’nai Mitzvah preparation booklets & gifts
• Monitor attendance of teachers and support search for substitutes as needed
• Assist Religious School Parents Group (RSPG) and coordinate parent volunteers
• Serve as a point of contact for any issues that arise when religious school is in session
• Attend school or staff meetings as necessary


• Manage correspondence between school and parents related to academics and events
• Communicate with parents and teachers through phone, emails, and other communication for advertising, outreach, and programming
• Maintain school webpage on TKE website and create forms as needed for events through our website: shulcloud
• Prepare and submit event information for RS and TKE publicity
• Assist with coordination of School/Youth E-Newsletter
• Maintain school bulletin board


Be present during all in-school hours and special holiday events as requested (including some Shabbat and evenings)
• If needed, administer, coordinate and serve as Zoom host for online education options
• Preparation of materials for teachers/students as directed (assist teachers with photocopying and supply prep and assist with student materials/boxes as needed for online learning modules (remote learning- if needed)
• Organization of special projects or events such as Shabbat, holiday programming, RS Retreats, School Fundraising
• Coordinate with custodian support team/volunteers to ensure classrooms and setups are prepared for school or programming

B’nai Mitzvah program support:

• General administrative duties (including setups for orientations, review & update B'nai mitzvah schedule, etc.)
• Manage and prepare correspondence in partnership with the Education Director (e.g. orientations, date selection)
• Follow TKE procedures for tracking and reporting of B'nai mitzvah program-related expenditures
• Submit receipts and invoices on behalf of the B'nai mitzvah program

R.S. Budget/Finance:

• Follow TKE procedures for tracking and reporting school program related expenditures
• Submit receipts and invoices on behalf of the school to the accounting department
