BBI seeks an energetic, organized, social media savvy Development Associate (DA) to play an essential role in driving its direct and digital engagement processes forward. The Associate will be responsible for administering the day-to-day operations of the development department (phone queries, donation processing, database management and acknowledgements) as well as creating and implementing digital strategies that enhance prospect and donor engagement and increase philanthropic support. The DA will work closely with the Director of Development Operations on all aspects of a robust, established direct mail program, liaising with consultants as needed to ensure established timelines are met, and have the opportunity help shape strategy by assisting in writing, copy editing and data analysis.
The DA will also lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive digital engagement strategy for the Development Department, utilizing Facebook/Google ads and SEO optimization to enhance BBI’s online presence and engage new audiences and supporters via creative campaign design.
Additional responsibilities include:
List Maintenance & Database Administration: Ensure the integrity of data in newly launched Donor Perfect CRM; updating donor records and giving histories as required.
Donation Processing, Acknowledgement and Reconciliation: Process donations and send acknowledgements in a timely fashion, working closely with Fiscal Operations to ensure accurate documentation and recordkeeping.
General Administration: Answer Development Department telephone and email queries as needed, ensuring requests are handled/directed to the appropriate staff member. Provide coverage/back-up for colleagues within the department. Prepare timesheets, expense and travel authorizations and other basic department administrative functions as needed. Occasional night/weekend event-related work and coverage will be required.
Qualifications: Successful candidates will have experience in a nonprofit development administration setting, specifically related to donation processing/financial reconciliation and tracking. Knowledge of the Jewish community and ease communicating with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders is critical, as is proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Familiarity with WordPress, Asana, Constant Contact, and nonprofit CRM systems like DonorPerfect is strongly preferred, as is working knowledge of SEO practices and all facets of social media and related marketing/engagement strategies.
