Director of Middle and Upper School Learning Centers

Maimonides School, a Modern Orthodox day school in Brookline, MA, seeks a Director of Middle and Upper School Learning Centers. The Director of Learning Centers oversees all aspects of the daily operation and management of the Middle and Upper School Learning Centers and represents the face and philosophy of academic support at the school.

Key specific duties of the Director of Learning Centers include the following:
? Coordinates Learning Specialist faculty and student schedules for highest efficiency to ensure maximum student support at lowest cost.
? Writes and maintains learning profiles for all LD students throughout their Maimonides careers; proactively communicates with teaching faculty on all students’ learning profiles.
? Oversees day-to-day functioning of the two centers in everything from logistics to operations.
? Serves as the manager overseeing and coordinating all moving parts of the Learning Center students’ support structure.
? Meets with Learning Center staff regularly to discuss all students identified formally and informally as on their caseload.
? Maintains contact with parents in a proactive and reactive manner concerning student progress.

? Coordinates regular communication with teachers and Department Chairs regarding Learning Center students’ progress and strategies; clarifies difference between accommodation and modification; and conveys and upholds the expectations teaching faculty have to meet approved accommodations or modifications by the school.
? Keeps all relevant records for the Center, including staff evaluations, applications for eligibility for standardized tests, workloads, etc.
? Facilitates and coordinates Learning Center students’ transitions from Elementary to Middle School.
? Serves as a member of the Admissions Committee, offering input on applicants’ candidacies.
? Attends evaluation meetings on students.
? Consults with the Director of College Guidance, Middle and Upper School Social Workers, Advisors, and Deans of Students on any LD student requiring intervention outside of the Learning Centers’ immediate function.
? Supervises and evaluates the Learning Center specialists.

Qualifications:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years’ middle or upper school academic teaching experience and a commitment to work as part of a collaborative team that prepares students with the skills, critical thinking abilities, and content knowledge to succeed as they develop as learners. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

The employee is required to sit, talk, hear, and visually interact with staff, students, parents, and visitors. Daily desk work including telephone and computer time; both close and distance vision is required. Frequent walking both inside campus buildings and outdoors throughout campus; navigation of stairs as a part of daily routines; and the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. when necessary.
