Serving the LA Jewish teen community since 1949, LA Hebrew High School is the premier flagship supplemental Jewish High School in LA. The school is accredited and recognized by local public high schools for the purposes of granting high school foreign language credit, and recently gained approval for UCOP A-G Online Publisher recognition.
Our program is pivoting into new directions, including hybrid learning, and we have created a new position titled Director of Jewish Studies and Teen Engagement. We invite applicants to fill this exciting new position and join our Senior Administrative Team.
The Director of Jewish Studies and Teen Engagement will have a major role working with our teens directly as well as several managerial and administrative roles. Candidates must have a deep passion for the mission of Jewish teen education, a strong record of experience working with Jewish teens, as well as a firm well-rounded background in “All things Jewish.” Knowing how to communicate with, engage, and teach teens are the essential ingredients of this position, as well as general managerial administrative skills.

Teaching (Israel related teaching experience especially valuable, as is Bible instruction)
Additional tasks related to the skills of the applicant
EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Masters degree preferred.
3 – 5 years experience working in Jewish teen education preferred.
Jewish education Pedagogy - Teaching Jewish teens
Experience in Online teaching
Knowledge/ experience with teaching any of the following:
Jewish thematic academic electives e.g. Jewish history, Jewish thought/values, Jewish civics and Leadership, Comparative Religions, etc.
Jewish thematic fun electives: Jewish humor, Jewish sports, Krav Maga, etc.
Savvy knowledge of educational technology, school management systems software, weekly newsletter preparation, educational software, and experience teaching online preferred.
Experience in social media, graphics and Development beneficial but not essential for the position
Speaking knowledge of Hebrew preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Works well on a team
Full Time 40 hours a week
Includes Sundays and weekdays plus some evenings and 1-2 weekends retreats each year
Summer programming is significantly lighter than during the school year, so incumbent is expected to alter their work schedule depending on the demands of the role.

COMPENSATION RANGE: Commensurate with experience
