Science and Math Specialist

Job Summary:
Brawerman Elementary School is seeking an experienced, credentialed Math/Science Specialist. The candidate should be a nurturing educator, supportive of the developmental needs of children Grades K-6 and prepared to introduce cutting-edge, best practices in all areas of the math and science curriculum as well as an ability to creatively communicate ideas to inspire scientific and mathematical thinking.

Our Campuses: Brawerman Elementary School is a Reform Jewish day school with two campuses. The West campus, located in West Los Angeles was founded in 1999. The East campus opened in fall 2011 in the heart of L.A.’s Koreatown, in the historic Wilshire Boulevard Temple. We are a tight-knit community with a high level of collaboration among the faculty and an active parent body. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and implement a science curriculum that encourages intellectual curiosity, exploration, and collaboration
Differentiate instruction as necessary to meet the needs of all students
Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs
Oversee development and implementation of math interventions and supports for students
Design, implement, and develop curriculum for high achieving/gifted math students
Provide curricular and instructional support to teachers for high achieving and gifted math students
Work directly with classroom teachers to develop math lessons, materials, and classroom projects
Possess a strong knowledge of current science and math programs including Everyday Math, Mystery Science, Project Based Learning, Common Core, and NGSS standards
Maintain an organized, and welcoming science classroom conducive to student learning
Use technology, innovation, and design thinking to support instruction
Use appropriate classroom management strategies so that clear boundaries are established and students feel comfortable and able to learn
Collaborate with other faculty on school-wide curriculum integration, programming, and events

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science/math and/or a teaching credential
Demonstrates interest and passion for science and math
Familiarity with NCTM, NGSS, and Common Core standards
Relevant teaching experience
Knowledge of technology and its implementation in the science and math classroom
Excellent oral, written communication, facilitation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
Reflective, creative, self-directed, flexible, and a team player
Campus leadership experience (preferred)
