Aaron Milken Center, of Stephen S. Wise Temple in Los Angeles, seeks a personable, well-spoken and organized individual to be the curriculum director of our early childhood education program. Aaron Milken Center provides children from two through five years with an innovative, educational experience tailored to the needs and expression of the whole child in an inclusive Jewish community. Our approach to education is through the lens of a Constructivist philosophy, focusing on hands-on, experiential learning that sparks curiosity, fosters creativity and encourages children to think deeply, imaginatively and critically as they explore their classroom environment and unravel the challenges that arise through their work and their play.

• Meet with teaching teams to push forward an emergent curriculum
• Documentation of curriculum, modeling for teachers proper documentation practice
• Provide parent education opportunities on emergent curriculum
• Provides mentoring, coaching and support in the areas of lesson guides, curriculum and documentation, classroom management and positive behavior support
• Lead professional development for teachers
• Coordinate and oversee material purchase and usage
• As a key staff member in our religious educational institution, role-model the tenets of our faith on a daily basis to our members and the broader Temple community; participate in transmitting the expectations and values of our faith, playing a critical and essential role in the Temple’s ability to minister to the daily needs of our students and members.

• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (or closely related field) required (Master’s Degree preferred)
• Strong knowledge of Emergent Curriculum or a Reggio inspired curriculum
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent technology skills
• Great organization skills and ability to be a “self-starter” and work independently
• Practice reflective, creative teaching and problem-solving skills
• Deep understanding of Jewish values, holidays and customs
• Experience working in licensed childcare centers; previous center administration preferred
• A positive attitude and a passion for making a difference in the lives of teachers and children
