Child Therapist

The Child/Adolescent Therapist provides high quality clinical services consistent with the agency mission and professional standard practices. This position partners with schools in addition to working onsite at JFS Counseling Center at the Roseland Community Center. This position is further achieved by fulfilling the following responsibilities:

Maintains an active caseload, providing services that are culturally relevant to the clients served
Provides counseling as a part of treatment plan using a variety of modalities including but not limited to individual, child/play therapy, adolescent and family therapy as appropriate with needs of clients
Consults with parents/caregivers and families on an on-going basis
Performs intake, assessments and other direct services as needed
Provides crisis intervention and risk assessments
Organizes and facilitates groups and serves as a speaker on the agency's behalf
Provided coordination of treatment services with the schools and other referral sources
Promotes and utilizes trauma-informed interventions
Advocates on behalf of clients when appropriate
Develops and coordinates programs
Attends and participates in clinical meetings, weekly supervision and staff meetings etc.
Maintains accurate, thorough and timely documentation using electronic records in accordance with the expectations and standards of JFS policies and procedures, state licensing requirements and funding/contract requirements
Adheres to ethical and conduct standards as established by professional license and JFS policies.
. Requirements:
Master's degree in Psychology, counseling, social work, etc.

Maintains unrestricted license to practice in State of Texas: LPC, LCSW, LP/LSSP

Formal play therapy training

Has worked at least 1 year counseling children and adolescents

Has counseled parents/families

Skilled in MS Office, particularly MS Excel

Possesses working knowledge of electronic healthcare records

Demonstrates strength in establishing and consistently enforcing appropriate boundaries with clients

Understands trauma, multi-cultural counseling and child treatment modalities, including play therapy

Models positive behavior and demeanor

Skilled in time management and organizational skills

Approaches work with a flexible, problem solving, self-directed, customer oriented and collaborative manner at all times

Adept in community engagement and networking

Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

Engages and develops rapport with clients and families of various backgrounds

Communicates effectively with all both verbally and in writing

Bilingual, Spanish/English is a definite plus!!
