The position is full-time with the expectation of a Shabbat and holiday presence as may be required. Heavily programmed weekends may result in compensatory time off during the week and that regular weekend days off may not be possible.
Work with synagogue committees and arms to develop educational, social, and cultural programming, including but not limited to dinners, holiday programs, adult education, speakers, concerts, films, Shabbaton, and all other such designated Temple activities.
Assist lay leaders to recruit, orient, motivate, and evaluate sufficient committees.
Plan with lay leadership all holiday programs and supervise and coordinate volunteers in the implementation of programs with the understanding that supervision of the onsite and online events may be required.
Be responsible for reservations and control of ensuing payments for programs and activities, working with office staff as may be required.
Promotions - Social media knowledge and expertise is essential. Must coordinate with relevant individuals and submit regular publicity, social media content, and similar for distribution to social media, outside media, and/or the Temple website.
Represent Temple on the coordinating and planning of community-wide programs and work with community coordinating bodies.
Attend services and special events as may be required by the President.
Perform other duties as may be assigned or necessary to facilitate programming as determined by the President.
Responsibility for Temple calendar, coordinating, controlling and supervising any ongoing updates, both manual and electronic.
Organize and preside over the annual Temple Calendar Scheduling meeting
Work with staff on calendar coordination with Synagogue tenants.
Liaison between Synagogue departments and maintenance staff for provision of setup information for events and activities.
Perform other duties as assigned or necessary to facilitate calendar/event coordination.
Act as clearing house and editor for staff-generated web content.
Communications – Disseminate communications and occasional “ASAP” updates (i.e., Weekly What's Happening email blast, shabbat bulletin). Knowledge of Microsoft Publisher is a must.
Write regular column for the quarterly Scribe newsletter as well as other media as may be required.
Develop and maintain programming budgets and policies for the aforementioned duties and functions, working with committees as may be required.
Attend Programming Committee meetings, Publicity Committee meetings, and other meetings as may be required.
Manage and be responsible for debriefing with appropriate individuals to evaluate past events and improve future reiterations of the same events.
Assist Temple staff to ensure smooth operations within the office, including but not limited to such activities as answering incoming telephone calls, assisting with online event registrations, receiving donations, assisting in processing member renewals, assisting in High Holy Day planning, and other such office activities as needed.
Coordinate with the Office Manager to ensure coverage when the office is open for business.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS (REQUIRED)
Organization management using a cloud-based management tool
Ability to learn new applications
ShulCloud experience a plus
Assist with updating online content using word processor application software ; includes calendar entries.content updates and online payment processing.
