Rabbi - Hospice Chaplain

The VNA Health Group, one of the largest independent Home Health and Hospice organizations in the country, is currently seeking a Hospice Chaplain to join our team in Middlesex County. This position would be responsible for developing and implementing hospice spiritual services while serving as a liaison between spiritual counselors in the community and the hospice team.

Among the key responsibilities:
1. Identifies significant spiritual factors related to life-limiting illness with patients and their families
2. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team on developing and implementing client’s plan of care
3. Provides counseling directly to patients and their families
4. Provides education to staff regarding spiritual needs and concerns of hospice patients and families
5. Provides bereavement follow-up services and counseling
6. Makes arrangements for funeral or memorial service when indicated
7. Provides educational programs for community clergy, religious and lay representatives
9. Adheres to the organization’s policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance
10. Omission of specific duties does not exclude them from this position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment for this position

Among the Key Qualifications for this role are:
1. Bachelor’s degree in theology, rabbinic ordination. Certification in hospital or pastoral ministry highly preferred
2. A minimum of 2 units of CPE, Board Certification preferred
3. Experience working with patients/families dealing with life threatening illnesses, death and dying
4. Ability to be flexible and ecumenical

5. Strong communication and customer service skills

6. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
