Fundraising & Special Events Associate

American Friends of Rabin Medical Center (AFRMC), a New York City based non-profit, seeks a fundraising and special events associate to help with all aspects of fundraising and development work. This will include doing research on individuals and companies as well as planning and executing a number of special fundraising events for summer and fall of 2021. Events include a golf outing for prostate cancer awareness, a breast & ovarian cancer 5K run / walk in Central Park and a major NYC Gala.

Associate will perform various development tasks such as outreach to secure corporate and foundation sponsors, working on the preparation of event materials, and supporting all aspects of event design (eg: proofing materials, pre-sale letters, silent auction, program, etc.). The associate will make solicitation calls to corporations and donors. S/he will also perform other duties as assigned including database management and office function tasks. There will also be interesting, short writing projects for our annual newsletter and gala journal. This is a temporary position for 20 - 30 hours per week (and will be paid as a 1099). Applicant must be able to make a commitment through the end of November 2021 and reside in New York City. Position is in-person and applicants must provide proof of vaccination. Hourly pay dependent on experience (negotiable). Starting dates available for June, July, August and early September 2021. Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis. The attractive office space is located in SoHo in New York City; its staff is small but the activity level is fast paced!

Candidates must have excellent computer skills including experience in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and mail merge, and Outlook. Must be email and internet savvy; social media skills a plus.

Skill set should include good interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, self-starter, writing and communication skills (on the phone and in person), detail-oriented and able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
