Temple Beth Am (TBA) is a forward-thinking, intimate, innovative and engaging congregation dedicated to celebrating traditional and innovative Judaism. Within our synagogue and various sub-communities, and within our ECC-8th Grade Day School, we aim to inspire lifelong learning in a warm, embracing community. Temple Beth Am is located in the Pico-Robertson area of Los Angeles and affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. With about 900 households in the synagogue and approximately 500 students in school (ECC through eighth grade), the community is known for its robust Shabbat minyanim, warm and engaging community, and for its heimish value system.
As we transition from the current pandemic back to a new reality for synagogue life, large congregations such as TBA must find new ways of servicing its own members through the digital space, as well as reaching out to new members, while remaining sensitive to the cultural and logistical barriers to doing so. This is new territory for us – and for all congregations – and if we are to continue to thrive, we must be prepared to embrace these opportunities.
