The job of Graphic Designer/Web Master is a part-time (15-20hrs/week), reporting to the Executive Director. The applicant should be able to work from the Marblehead location at least once a week, therefore should be located in the Boston or North of Boston area. The job includes working with the Professional staff, lay leadership and various committee and program chairs on the Temple’s communication and marketing efforts. While working onsite at the Temple will be necessary at some times, the position is flexible and open to creating a remote working schedule.
The Communications Coordinator position includes the following areas of responsibility:
o Design and maintain a monthly digital newsletter to be distributed both electronically as well as in a hardcopy format.
o Newsletter responsibilities include all facets of production from working with office staff and volunteers on content, deadlines and production timelines; review and editing of content for consistency and accuracy; layout; distribution of digital version; and coordination of printing and mailing of hardcopy version.
o Explore the development of new types of newsletter content including articles, columns, contributing writers, interviews, etc.
o Maintain the content of Temple website (both web and mobile versions) for timeliness and accuracy.
o Make suggestions for layout improvements and enhancements involving both form and substance.
o Change photographs on a regular basis as necessary to maintain freshness of website
o Design and send a weekly email communication to congregation
o Design and send all other communications to the congregation, with content provided by staff using Temple layout standards.
o Liaison to print and online media, including the coordination of press releases, calendar section entries and worship service schedule, holiday and program ads, with particular emphasis on the Jewish Journal and the Marblehead and Swampscott Reporters.
Other Design Work
o Design images to be used in email, bulletins, flyers and website.
o Design and maintain digital slides of news and events shown on Temple lobby monitors.
o Create small advertising booklets and program guides in support of fundraising events
Skills: Demonstrable experience with PC based publishing software for creation of booklets and newsletters. Proficiency with Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint or other editing and presentation software. Prior experience with video editing software a plus but not required. Prior Experience with Shulcloud a bonus!
