Primary Responsibilities:
Manage programming and related logistics
Facilitate family programming
Lesson planning for daily teaching group of 15 children
Build relationships with kids and families
Represent program in the neighborhood

How will you do that?
Teach daily in afterschool enrichment in 15 child program
Manage and implement COVID safety plan, with support from Founding Director
Manage educator schedules for 2-3 person team
Plan and facilitate regular family programming in collaboration with Center City Director
Recruit for enrollment (pay increases with additional enrollment)
Teach daily in Jewish Enrichment
Support parents & build relationships with families
Participate with ED in hiring educators
Supervise South Philadelphia staff
Use Asana for project management
Update the board about South Philadelphia

Supporters & Collaborators:
Reports to Executive Director
Collaborate with Center City Director
Coordinate School’s Out Camps with Center City Camp Coordinator

Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
3-5 years of Jewish Education Experience
Polished verbal communication skills
Love of studying and teaching Jewish text

Makom Community is looking for someone who wants to build a new model for Jewish community and loves having lots of space to experiment and reflect. Our new South Philadelphia director will be someone who is driven to create joyful, experiential, and immersive learning experiences within a diverse community and is excited to learn about the pedagogy Makom Community is developing. They will be a true innovator in the field of Jewish Education. Bring an entrepreneurial spirit. Seeing the large and small pieces of a big project and moving through implementation will be a regular feature of this role. This person will co-teach daily with our new site with a group of about 15 students a day.
