JVS Human Services helps Metro Detroiters and their families maximize their potential by providing counseling, training, and support services for people with disabilities, job seekers, seniors, and others in need. Master's degree required in counseling, social work or related fields such as psychology, rehabilitation counseling, etc.
Licensed as an LMSW, LLMSW, LPC, LLPC or have a related equivalent certification.
One to two years related experience working with a wide range of individuals including those with mental health challenges or disabilities.
Experience conducting career and personality assessments, group counseling and job placement preferred.
Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with clients, public and staff.
Composition and time management skills sufficient to prepare required case notes and correspondence, as well as the ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrently are needed.
Complete initial intake assessment for each client assigned and maintain ongoing assessment of needs.
Establish and maintain a counseling relationship with clients, developing and implementing counseling plan(s).
Achieve a Career Development Pan (CDP) rate that is consistent with current Agency goals.
Conduct group counselling sessions, as assigned.
Administer and interpret vocational test battery.
Assist clients in interpreting and integrating vocational information to develop a career plan.
Obtain necessary services for clients by referring and coordinating with other disciplines within the agency or community.
Assist clients with job seeking skills, (i.e. resume preparation, interviewing skills, etc.) and in conducting a job search.
Assist clients to effectively adjust to the work environment.
Maintain case records, correspondence and agency reporting requirements including entering case notes and service status into electronic record system.
Participate in planning, executing and staffing departmental programming.
Serve on Agency committee(s) as appointed.
