Who We Are:

When you work for Moishe House (pronounced moy-shuh), you become a part of something BIG: a global nonprofit that builds peer-led Jewish communities for young adults around the world! Founded in 2006, Moishe House funds, trains, and educates young adults to create pluralistic, inclusive, and welcoming Jewish communities as House Residents, MHWOW Hosts, and Peer-Led-Retreat Facilitators. To date, there are more than 140 Moishe House communities in over 30 countries, and we’re still growing!

Moishe House seeks a part-time Latin American Regional Jewish Educator to serve as our Jewish Educator for our houses throughout Latin America. The primary focus of the Jewish Educator is to empower Moishe House residents in crafting their own Jewish learning programing.

You are an effective teacher of Jewish Education, enjoying the rewards of studying with others and helping them to create programming for their communities.
You excel in bringing Judaism to life throughout South America and with the Moishe House team through:
Teaching basic Jewish ideas and texts, as well as more advanced ideas and texts, while making every learner feel valued and respected.
Mentoring all new residents, and supporting all residents, including existing residents, on their Jewish journeys within their first three months and within their last two months in the house.
Leading others through your creativity and ability to develop many ways of bringing Judaism and its traditions to life for our constituents who come from diverse backgrounds, wherever they fall on a spectrum of Jewish observance and knowledge.
Initiating significant visits with at least 6-8 Houses in the region during the calendar year, including participating in a house meeting, leading a Jewish learning session with Residents, attending or helping plan a program, and meeting one-on-one with Residents. You’re excited about traveling frequently (approximately 1 time per month) to Moishe Houses in Latin America, our Latin American Moishe House annual Resident conference, and potentially our very first Jewish Learning retreat in Latin America (some travel to the U.S., too). You may also be asked to teach at other resident conferences, global staff conferences, and Jewish learning retreats!
You have a graduate degree or formal post-graduate work in Jewish text study, such as a master’s degree in Jewish Education or completion of a Rabbinical program, OR you have at least one year of post-undergraduate Jewish text-study, such as a year at Pardes or Latin American Rabbinical Seminary. Other forms of formal Jewish study, such as 3+ years of experience working as a full-time Jewish educator on a communal level will be considered.
You are a native Spanish and/or Portuguese speaker, and are fluent (written and verbal) in English. Proficiency in Hebrew is a plus! You are committed to becoming a native speaker in the language you are currently less proficient in while working for Moishe House.
You have significant experience teaching basic Jewish ideas and texts. Proficiency in teaching texts from Hebrew and/or Aramaic preferred.
You have a clear understanding of the uniqueness of Jewish life in Latin America and you bring extensive experience working with young adult audiences with diverse backgrounds.
You are excited to be part of an organization serving the wider Jewish world beyond Latin America, and you have some level of experience working with Jewish audiences from other countries. You are equally as excited about tackling big challenges and new projects!

You are eligible to work in Latin America without employer sponsorship.

The Fine Print: This position requires a flexible schedule of 20 hours per week, including weekdays, weekday evenings, and weekends (including Shabbat for Retreats or other gatherings), and reports to the Director, Global Communities. The position requires frequent (monthly) travel within Latin America once in-person programming resumes. Some travel to the U.S. and beyond required.
