Role Overview
Join the Syracuse Hillel team as the Development and Operations Manager. You’ll play a key role in securing the financial future for Syracuse Hillel, ensuring operational success, and providing an excellent experience for students, staff, and stakeholders. The Development and Operations Manager will report directly to the Executive Director, but work closely with the entire staff team towards operational excellence. In this position, you’ll have the opportunity to manage the 16,000 sq ft Winnick Hillel Center, support partners and stakeholders in a variety of areas, and oversee a robust annual campaign portfolio. You’ll be a part of a dynamic and growing team of caring professionals dedicated to supporting Syracuse University’s 2500 Jewish students.

What You’ll Do

Development
-Provide customer service and stewardship to parents, alumni, university professionals, board members, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
-Maintain, manage, reconcile, and ensure accuracy of information for Jewish constituents through the University database.
-Manage annual direct mail campaigns, both direct mail, grassroots fundraising, development marketing, campaign execution, gift processing, and a donor portfolio of gifts up to $1,000.
-Research for and strategize with the Executive Director to develop a robust major gift pipeline.
-Management of in-person development events like Orange Central Weekend (SU -Alumni Weekend), Family Weekend, and regional parlor meetings.

Administration
-Process payroll, reimbursements, invoices, bills, and track receipts.
-Work with the Executive Director and Hillel’s bookkeeping company on monthly checklists to ensure smooth accounting and reporting processes.
-Maintain minutes, produce reports and help manage operations for Board of Governors and committee meetings.
-Provide program support as needed and as determined in conjunction with the -Executive Director (Shabbat, High Holidays, Passover, Israel Week, FreshFest, etc.).
-Book travel for conferences and events.

Building Management
-Coordinate building management with the University building supervisor.
-Ensure kashrut (kosher supervision) is complied with in the kitchen and dining hall spaces.
-Maintain Winnick Hillel Center master calendar and event bookings.
-Hire and manage work study students.
-Track and order office and facility supplies as needed.
-Coordinate event and general security as needed.

What You’ve Accomplished
-3+ years of professional work experience.
-Bachelor’s degree required.
-Experience with CRMs, QuickBooks, Excel, and/or similar software programs.
-Experience in development, finance, bookkeeping, accounting, and/or building management.
-Proven success in donor prospecting and validating, event planning and execution, and relationship building.
-Experience in community organizing, Hillel, youth movements, camping, or experiential Jewish education is a plus.

-Superior oral and written communication skills.

What You’ll Receive
-Competitive salary in the non-profit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $47,000 - $55,000.
