Cantorial Soloist

The 815 families of Temple Sinai have an enthusiastic love for Jewish music. The Cantor/Cantorial Soloist will have the joyful responsibility of continuing the development of our musical culture through worship, music programming, music education, and coordinating the preparation of our B’nei Mitzvah students.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. The Cantor/Cantorial Soloist will lead the music at all Religious services in coordination with and under the direction of the Senior Rabbi. These services include Shabbat worship (Friday evening, Shabbat morning, and occasional Minchah), a monthly Tot Shabbat Service, and a monthly Healing Service.

2. The Cantor/Cantorial Soloist will work with the Choir Director in helping to develop our Adult Choir during the High Holy Days, the Festivals, and selected services and programs during the year.

3. At the direction and discretion of the Senior Rabbi, the Cantor/Cantorial Soloist will bring musical enrichment to funerals, weddings, baby namings, and assist life cycle services.

4. The Cantor/Cantorial Soloist will develop and coordinate the Religious School and Preschool music curriculum in coordination with the Director of Education and the Director of Early Childhood Education.

5. The Cantor/Cantorial Soloist will tutor 5-10 Temple Sinai B’nei Mitzvah students each year.

6. The Cantor/Cantorial Soloist will coordinate the B’nei Mitzvah program under the direction of the Senior Rabbi and will oversee the independent tutors to make sure they are maintaining standards.

7. The Cantor/Cantorial Soloist will be invited to attend board meetings and staff meetings.

8. The Cantor/Cantorial Soloist will organize, lead, inspire, and develop our young musicians through the youth choir/band.

9. The Cantor/Cantorial Soloist will be actively involved in worship experiences and music programs in the Preschool and Religious School.
